Jack is sleeping over at his grandparents' tonight. This is the first time I've ever spent a full night away from him. I hate to think of how scared and confused he will be when he wakes up in another house without mommy or daddy. Poor little bean.
And, to top it off, he's got a yucky cold. No fever, but definitely booger-y (like, ridiculously boogery. Snot everywhere. Ew.) He's pretty tired fighting off this cold though so he's napping a bunch.
I'm just a little worried about it. 90% of me is like "Jilly, relax! It's a sleepover and a cold, not a transatlantic flight and swine flu" but I guess I'm a mom and just HAVE to do it.
Anyone have any tips? I'm going to pack a bunch of his toys and gear to take over there with him, of course, and we are going over there at, like, 8am tomorrow morning to pick him up.
PS: The reason he's sleeping over is because we're going out on a grownup playdate to the chuckwagon races (I'm SO stoked!) and to the rodeo cabaret with my sister and her boyfriend and our neighbours... it's a REAL grownup night, late and everything, and it will be less disruptive for Jack if he can sleep through (or mostly sleep through.) His g-parents are mad about him, of course, and he'll probably end up being snuggled until midnight, but I'm just feeling... eek. But we SO need a date night!!!
