I was looking online and from what I see, the first trimester screening tests for:
- Blood type (A, B, AB or O)
- Rh factor (Rh positive or Rh negative)
- Anemia
- Rubella immunity status
- Diabetes
- Hepatitis
- Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV, the virus that cause Aquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, or AIDS)
- Sexually transmitted diseases as recommended by your health care provider
Has anyone refused this testing? I ask because of the 8 things tested for, only 2 would I "need" (anemia, diabetes). Or has anyone asked for only specific tests rather than the entire prenatal panel? I realized that I've had this test 8 times and for what? To find that my blood type is the same as it's always been? Or that I don't have HIV (big surprise there)?
