I had my teeth cleaned back in February and my dentist told me their was a tooth that I probably should get an x-ray on, but he wanted me to be out of the first trimester. A couple weeks ago my tooth was throbbing really bad, but the next day it was much better. Either way I called figuring I did not want to put this off if my tooth was hurting that bad. I've needed root canals before and I know when your teeth start bothering you the pain can sneak up on you fast and can be extremely painful.
So today I go in and my dentist looks at the tooth and takes a quick x-ray. While he is waiting for it to develop he shows me the cavity and says it looks like it's a little cavity, but it shouldn't be bothering me that much. Tells me he can fill it and asks me if I want numbed up. I, of course, say yes and so he numbs up my tooth all the while waiting for my x-ray to develop. He then steps out to go look at the x-ray.
After my mouth is all good and numbed up he asks me "when you said your tooth was bothering you, would you say it was throbbing". At that point I'm thinking great and tell him yes, it was pretty bad. He then shows me the x-ray and tells me that it looks like a dental abscess and he needs to send me to an endodontist for a root canal. Wah, boo me. I swear every time I get pregnant I need a root canal! So this sucks. My mouth got all numbed up for nothing and now I still have to go back for a root canal. Thankfully the endodontist could get me in on Thursday. Now, I'm just hoping my tooth does not bother me between now and Thursday.
Anyone else had their teeth go bad on them during pregnancy?
