Oh, wow so I assume you're both converts? I can't believe they're that way in Maryland. That's absolutely terrible! The small town I'm in had alot of trouble getting it's own mosque for awhile, too (although not from the gov't but from the local neighborhood nearby). They had to hold prayer in a small house instead. Finally they were allowed to build a large, gorgeous mosque and it's in construction now (Alhumdulillah). Although, the neighborhood has held fast that the azhan cannot be played over the loud speaker (oooooooo it's a call to come meet together to plan terrorist plots ooooo). How can your town not allow the mosque to be built? Isn't that against the law? And I'm still troubled by your DH being fired! Unfortunately, I don't know anyone in MD. I have some good friends in New Jersey and Toronto, but that doesn't help you any...
