When I was a kid, if we did something bad, we got spankings. And believe me, they worked! We do the warning system here. First time DD does something bad, she gets a warning, second time is time out on the couch with no toys, third time is a smack on the leg. We very rarely get to the smack. Time out usually does the trick! Because she knows what comes next. If parents would discipline their children, I think things would be different. So many times, you find people like my neighbor who just don't give a **** and allow their kids to run the streets. (Literally, her son who is 2 crossed the busy street next to my house and was playing by himself in the woods by my house, with no shoes, pants, or shirt. Just a diaper.) It's really sad!
Amen, sister. We got spanked too and like you said, they worked. Dd gets a warning system too...first time she is told no, second time she gets a time-out in her crib, third time she gets a spanking/hand smacked depending on what she is doing. We rarely get to the spanking too, usually just calm down time in her crib is all she needs.

I wont have children who act like that. Like someone said those are the types of kids who end up in & out of jail their whole lives or worse, in jail for life for killing someone. All of my fiances nieces have parents who dont want to be bothered by having to parent, and i dont even let dd play w/her 3 yr old cousins in a different room then i am in. I had to yell at the 4 yr old bc her favorite words are "shut up stupid". Ugh. I told her if Samantha says that, she wont be playing w/her anymore. Of course her mom was right there, didnt say anything. Grrr.
