Wow!! The lack of discipline these days is astonishing! I'm not normally a confrontational person either, but becoming a mother changed that. I expect my daughter to be polite and have taught her manners from the beginning. As a result, people tell me my daughter is a sweet girl and joy to be around. Honestly, I was afraid of sending her to public school due (in part) to the lack of parenting these days. Private school isn't perfect, but you can tell there is a lot of parental involvement (at school and home). When we go to the park, we've experienced some out of control kids too. I had to step in once last summer when a boy threw dirt in my daughter's face and the mother watched it happen (and didn't do anything to stop him!).
