Solids

How often are you feeding your LO solids (if you are at all) and how old are they?

I am not sure if im feeding Genevieve too much or not enough solids
She's 4 months and I give her oatmeal in the am and the pm. I give her half of what a 2 oz bottle and a TBSP of oatmeal make.

Elise is 5 months ans the last week we just started letting her try food, in one of the mesh bags so she has tried avacado and bannana, she mabey gets a tablespoon each night if she can get that much out before she gets bored. I am hoping to wait untill 6 months to really start feeding her solids

I am starting oatmeal at 5 months and go from there. I will introduce one new food a week. I just read a study that holding off on introducing solids like oats, meat, fish, eggs can actually increase the likelihood of allergy instead of reduce it. It's not really a new theory, but more research has been done on it.

Haven't started yet, waiting another month :)

Re: Solids

We haven't started yet because Jillian doesn't need it as she's satisfied after BF.

That doesn't sound like too much especially since it sounds like it's mostly formula that you're giving her. Just make sure that she doesn't reduce the amount of formula that she gets to much because at her age she still really needs that nutrition.

Bryce is 5 months, and he eats cereal in the morning and he eats some veggies in the evening. But he's really greedy though. :)

Ezra is 5 months this week. We've given him oats, but only like a teaspoon and he's over it. I got those mesh bags last week. I love them. He has a little ice and I froze some of the oats. Now I don't have to make a whole batch. The little junks that fit into the ice tray it came with is the perfect size.

I think next week we will try some brown rice, because the oats make him arch his back more (like constipated).

Re: Solids

Xander only gets cereal but not every night he isn't into it that much.

I also heard that you should start out only once a day.

Kylie is about 2 weeks short of 6 months and she gets a fruit mixed with oatmeal in the morning and a veggie mixed with rice cereal at night, then bottles in between...She loves it and opens real wide, while flailing her arms around all excited! lol

Bella has rice cereal (about a tablespoon - I eyeball it) mixed with a half of a small Gerber stage 1 fruit container for lunch (mixed w. about 1 oz of a 5 oz bottle), then she finishes the bottle. She's not crazy about pears, but LOVES apples. Tomorrow we are trying either peaches or carrots - I haven't decided yet, maybe I'll let her pick. LOL

Health Canada recommends no solids before 6 months so that is what we are doing.

Reagan is getting organic, whole grain rice cereal in the morning and a veggie in the evening. Some evenings, she's not interested in the veggie...

we started her on rice cereal and she ate that for once a day for 2 or 3 weeks.
my mom said she thinks we should be feeding her more so when we started oatmeal we do it twice a day.

Genevieve opens real wide and gets excited too she loves eating food like mommy and daddy! LOL

i started her on organic rice cereal, 1 TBSP with 4 TBSP of breastmilk, she ate the whole thing every time, i switched her to sweet potatoes the organic kind and she eats almost the whole bottle, i give her the sweet potatoes every other day and the rice cereal on the off days.
her dr. said to put her on veggies and rice cereal first

Ellie has rice cereal in the morning and veggies in the evening. She LOVES her veggies. She's starts grumbling if you don't feed her fast enough.

No solids here yet either. I feel kind of bad about it too as Lucy is very interested in us when we are eating. I just don't think she's fully ready yet.
