The Wedding... Picture OVERLOAD. Long post! Readers beware.

I suppose you all need a little bit of background information about all of this. Most of you know that I'm from Texas, and so is every bit of my wonderful, and very large, family. Keith, my now-truly-husband, is from Langley, British Columbia (about forty-five minutes from Vancouver if there's traffic, and there usually is). He has a very small family comprising of his dad and step sister, who he never sees, and then his bi-polar, hopped up on all kinds of medications mother, and very sweet grandmother. That's it. Moving away from my family was hard, but not having any kind of replacement (not that there really could be, but you know what I mean) was worse.

But, anyway, that's neither here nor there. Initially, hubby and I were going to do the quick, Justice of the Peace type of thing, and get hitched by signing those papers and not having a ceremony. Then, a few days before Christmas, I come to find out our friend Amber wants to plan a mini wedding to be held at her mother's house. A visit to her house had me up in the master bedroom, trying on Amber's wedding dress, and her and her mother insisting that it was perfect for me. Now, it wasn't particularly my style, and it didn't fit quite right, especially in the bust area. I'm quite a bit more well-endowed than Amber up there, so when I looked in the mirror I felt like I had a set of four boobs, and not just two. But hey, they were both being so nice, and I'm not one to refuse kindness. It was all extremely hard to get excited about, though, knowing my family couldn't be there. I had an image in my head, like most girls do, all about what my wedding would be like... and this wedding was falling dreadfully short of all of my imaginings. Amber, although insanely kind, thought it better not to "stress" me and Baby out by including me in any of her plans. She ended up choosing a flower, and color theme, that I never would have chosen (yellow is not really my cup of tea, and roses are my least favorite flower), but I just didn't have the energy to fight about it. I say fight because that's what the entire affair had sort of become. With Keith's mother not entirely being involved beyond the salad and rolls, she was calling us every night and yelling about how Amber was taking over and we shouldn't just "roll over" and let her, along with a host of other mean things. It had Keith and I just putting our fingers in our ears and wanting the wedding to be over and done with so we could be married and happy, and all the rest of the stress could be over.

Mind you, I'm actually giving you all the short version, so it's not sounding nearly so stressful. Though, if you use your imagination, I'm sure you can understand. Anyway, two weeks before the wedding I get a call from my mother and she says, "There is no way that I'm missing your wedding. I can't deal with that." And proceeds to tell me that she's buying a plane ticket, and getting Keith and I a beautiful hotel room at the Marriott for our "mini Honeymoon". Then, a day later, she tells me that now my grandmother is coming so long as she can get her passport in time, and that my Gram wants to buy me a wedding cake, and Keith a groom cake. Bam, those get ordered, and my mum purchases my bouquet, and starts to say that we should just "try on dresses to see".

They both got here on Thursday night, and we all (Keith, my mother, my gram, and I) had a wonderful dinner at the hotel, only to wake up bright and early to drop Keith off at work, and shove me into a Bridal store where I tried on three dresses and found one exactly my style, exactly like I went through a thousand dresses and found the one I always thought I'd have (of course, ignoring the fact that I'm 15lbs heavier and so bloated I look like I've gained 30lbs). The seamstress the store uses was actually free, by some stroke of luck, and said she could have it hemmed and add in some thick boning on the side to "carry the weight of" my bust. It was all insanely good luck. We were all in awe that we even managed to find a dress, much less have it altered. In a day. So, I ended up with my very own dress, and my very own flowers, and my very own cake. But nothing made it better than having my mother, and my incredible grandmother there.

Here are some pictures:

The wedding kiss. I was smiling, so I look a little funny here.

Directly after the kiss and the Unity candle lighting.
(Mind you, my eyes are all squinched because I'm horribly blind without my glasses and I didn't have contacts, and my face is SO puffy.)

I just love this...

They caught me blowing bubbles with Amber's son, Owen.

Our darling little cakes. They were so delicious.

Cake feeding. I look gigantic in this picture, but it's still cute.

At the hotel, afterwards. View of Vancouver. He's a lot taller than me, so I look like a giraffe when I lean up to kiss him.

This lovely lady is my mother.

My mother took this, and I think it's my favorite picture of the wedding day/night.

Dinner after the wedding with my wonderful family.

Finally, a picture of the day after, on the ferry ride. It was our mini-Honeymoon.

I caught my gram and hubby being cute and having a little chat on the ferry.

And this one is completely random, but I took it during the cab ride back to the ferry, and it just made me smile. I have a little bump now.

Well, there you have it ladies. I hope you enjoyed my long rant and crazy amount of pictures!

Awww I love the pictures! What a sweet little wedding you had! You both look truly happy and that dress is gorgeous on you. :) Seems like a good time was had by all. Congratulations!

Edited to add - I'm so happy your mom and grandmother could be there for you. I married my ex-DH in a courthouse 2 weeks after he proposed and by some major stroke of luck, stars aligning just perfectly, kind of thing..my mother and brother, from NC were able to come up to Chicago AND my Dad and Stepmom were road-tripping from NJ to WA after just having gotten back from a 2 year military assignment in the Azores. The were all able to be here, which meant the world to me, as I have no family of my own here. So I know how much that must have meant to you!

Also - love the baby belly.

Oh my! You're sooo beautiful! This was a gorgeous wedding and your nonsense about looking huge is just silly! And the giraffe deal is so cute! My DH is more than a foot taller than me, so I always look like that when we kiss! How awesome your mom and grandma could be there for YOU and to see your special day! :)
