Boys and barbies?

What do you think? Do you think it's okay to let your boys play with girl toys? What about girls and boy toys? One of my hubby's friends was giving me a hard time because the girls painted his toe nails. LOL. He likes to play with their barbies too.

I don't like my son playing with girl toys - but, he doesn't have older sisters/girls around either! If he did - i would probably let it go. I went over to my cousin's house of Christmas - she has 2 older girls, and a baby boy. My son had a blast with all the girl stuff. I guess at their age - they just kind of play with what's there! They don't really think of it as boys/vs girls!

I don't think at this age it really matters. My daughter plays with boy things all the time. I do like her to also play with her dolls and such but could care less it she gets a car and says 'vroom vroom'. She also has a little toddler train thing that she got from a friends son's hand me downs and she loves it. I say let them play and have fun. They will come to an age where they will NOT want to play with anything girly and most likely won't want his toe nails painted. Right now it's probably also fun for his sisters to play with him in that way and they enjoy it. I'm sure when he's 5 his sister won't want to be painting his nails before school:smile:

My daughter plays with all of her uncle's old toys and she loves them. If I had a boy I would let him play with barbies and anything else that made him happy. I know my little brother was forced to play barbies, tea parties, slumber parties, etc by my little sister and he's OK. No emotional scarring of any sort. They just want to play and use their imagination.

I am so glad to hear that others think like me. Dh doesn't give me a hard time about it because he knows Shawn is very boyish and actually he thinks the way Shawn carries dolls around by the hair is funny.
