Stairs

Does your LO walk up and down the stairs?

Can they do it themselves?

Re: Stairs

He can't walk up them but he can crawl up them and he slides down on his belly or on his bottom.

Re: Stairs

Yes, he walks up and down on his own.

Hands and knees to go up, and on his belly sliding down.

Re: Stairs

She goes up her hands and knees going up. Or, she uses the railing and is starting to get the hang of trying to do it on her own more. Going down she usually reaches for our hand and then walks down. The only stairs we have are concrete ones leading to our apartment or she'd probably scoot down on them but we won't let her.

Yes, she goes up and down stairs by herself. She goes a bit slow when she goes down.

Re: Stairs

Layla can go up and down herself (holding the railing). She get alot of practice since we have to go down a flight to get in our house

Re: Stairs

She scoots on her butt going down. If she's holding on to someone's hand, she can walk up; otherwise she crawls up the stairs. She can go up and down on her own, but prefers to have someone with her going down.

Re: Stairs

Crawls up and slides down. I'm not comfortable with letting him walk up and down the stairs yet and discourage it. Our stairs are straight down with no landing in between, so if he fell he's likely to not stop until he's at the bottom. That scares me.

Crawls up, on his bottom on the way down. Not even close to being able to walk up/down by himself yet! If we help him by holding his hands/arms, we are still supporting his weight & balance a lot. But he just started walking independently less than 2 months ago, so I wouldn't expect him to do it yet I guess.

Hands and knees going up and scoots down on her bottom while holding someones hand. One her own she will scoot down to fast and fall forward and loose her balance. I've let her try and caught her twice now. The stairs are blocked off and she only goes up when we can spot her and down with help. We need to install a railing. There wasn't one when we bought the house 4.5 years ago.

She can crawl/climb up them. She has started using the hand rail and doing it correctly though lately.

Se gets very indignant if you try to help her ;) She loves going up and down the stairs :)

Re: Stairs

He can walk up them OK. I don't let him unless someone is helping him. I won't let him walk down the stairs because he is wobbly on his feet. He has crooked legs and when he walks he falls a lot so I can only picture him stumbling down the stairs. DR said his legs will strengthen as he gets older.
