Swimming

Do you have a pool you can take LO to?

If so, do they enjoy it?

Do they know the basics of the water (ie ... do they know to kick legs and move their arms).

The public pools here are a bit far for us but I fill the bathtub up for her and she "swims" in it. She knows how to kick and hold her breath to go underwater as we have taught her that in a normal swimming pool since very little.

Yes, we do although we don't go that often. And it's been quite a while since I've taken him. I don't think he knows the basics at all. He can blow bubbles in the bathtub though! lol

Re: Swimming

E takes weekly swim lessons. So far it's just been an "introduction" class for babies 6 months-2 years. They mainly play in the water. He can blow bubbles, put his head under, and sometimes kicks his feet. Next session we will be moving up to an actual class for kids 2-5 years where they actually learn the basics of swimming. (still with parents in the water). I hope that by moving up a class, he will see older kids "swimming" and will be able to model off them. He hasn't seen too many people swimming, so he probably doesn't know what it actually looks like.

Re: Swimming

Kynslee knows how to kick her legs and move her arms to get her around in the water. She has a swimsuit with built in floaties and DH and I recently have let her start moving around the water on her own without us hold her. She does pretty good but still gets 'top-heavy' sometimes and rolls over. We are trying to help her learn to hold her breath but she hasn't quite got that down yet. She doesn't blow bubbles in the water yet.
