crock pot recipes

Anyone have any good (and hopefully cheap) crockpot recipes they want to share? I'm trying to try new recipes so share anything.

Re: crock pot recipes

I honestly just throw meat and sauce in my crock pot. LOL! I hope some others do chime in with some good ideas though. I could use some. :)

Re: crock pot recipes

I don't use my crock pot much, if at all but I DO have some recipes....

Quick Ravioli
25 oz bag of frozen ravioli
1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese or your favorite Italian blend cheese
Dump the bag of frozen ravioli in the slow cooker.
Pour the jar of sauce over the ravioli.
Stir the ravioli to evenly coat with sauce.
Cover and cook on high for about 2 hours. You could also cook on low for a longer period of time.
About 20 minutes before you are ready to serve, sprinkle the top of the ravioli with finely shredded mozzarella cheese.
Put the lid back on and let it melt- about 20 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Beef and Noodles
1 lb Stew Meat (more if you like, I usually use 1 1/2 lbs)
1 lg can Cream of Chicken (yes Chicken)
1 envelope Lipton Onion Soup Mix
Add about 3/4 can of water, more or less depending on how thick or thin you want.
1 bag of Rhodes Noodles

Mix everything together, except the noodles, and cook on High 4 hrs or low 8 hrs. Add the noodles the last 30 min of cooking. Serve by itself or over Mashed Potatoes!

Beef Stroganoff
1& 1/4 pound cubed beef stew meat
2 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (98% fat free for a healthier choice)
1 chopped onion
2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 c. water (or a little more if you want saucy) I use beef broth or red wine or a mixture of both
dash of garlic salt (I use Garlic-Garlic from Tastefully Simple)
8 oz cream cheese (cut up)
Egg noodles or Amish noodles

In slow cooker, combine uncooked meat and all ingredients EXCEPT cream cheese and noodles.

Cook on low setting for 8 hrs or high for about 5 hrs. Approx. 15-20 min before serving, add the cream cheese; stir occasionally until melted. Approx. 10 minutes before serving, add uncooked noodles, push down in sauce to get lightly coated; replace lid, but stir occasionally until noodles are soft & ready to eat.

Chicken and Broccoli
4 to 6 boneless, skinless chicken breast
2 (10 oz) cans broccoli-cheese soup
1/2 c. milk

Add all of the ingredients to your crock pot that you have sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Salt and pepper to suit your taste. Cook for about 4 hours on high. Stir occasionally. Serve over rice or noodles.

*Feel free to add frozen or fresh broccoli*

Cream Cheese Chicken with Broccoli
4 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1⁄2-inch pieces
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 package (1 ounce) Italian salad dressing mix
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 cup chopped onion
1 can (10 3⁄4 ounces) condensed low-fat cream of chicken soup, undiluted 1 bag (10 ounces) frozen broccoli florets, thawed
1 package (8 ounces) low-fat cream cheese, cubed
1⁄4 cup dry sherry
Hot cooked pasta
Directions
Toss chicken with olive oil. Sprinkle with Italian salad dressing mix. Place in 5-quart CROCK-POT® slow cooker. Cover; cook on LOW 3 hours.
Coat large skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Add mushrooms and onion; cook 5 minutes over medium heat or until onions are tender, stirring occasionally.
Add soup, broccoli, cream cheese and sherry to skillet; cook and stir until hot. Transfer to 4 1⁄2-quart slow cooker. Cover; cook on LOW 1 hour. Serve chicken and sauce over pasta.

BBQ Chicken
4-6 pieces boneless skinless chicken breasts (i threw them in frozen... even easier!)
1 bottle BBQ sauce
1/4 c vinegar
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
1/4 c brown sugar
1/2 - 1 tsp. garlic powder
mix BBQ sauce with all ingredients listed under it. place chicken in crockpot. pour sauce over it and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours. you pretty much don't even have to stir it.

Crock Pot Chicken Pot Pie

4-5 potatoes, peeled or scrubbed, then diced
3-4 cups baby carrots, halved
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2- 1 tsp salt
Pepper to taste
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cubed
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1-2 cups frozen peas
Biscuits, toast, or pie crust

Place all of the veggies in a large crock pot (mine is 6 quarts). Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Brown chicken in a little bit of oil- you don’t need to cook it through, just brown it. (This is an optional step, you can just leave the chicken raw.) Place chicken on top of veggies and cover with soup. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours. Add frozen peas and cook 20 minutes longer or till heated through. Serve over toast, biscuits, or pie crust.

Crockpot Banana Bread

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tbsp dark corn syrup
3 ripe bananas, well mashed

Grease and flour a 4 1/2 quart crockpot. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda together in a small bowl, set aside. Cream butter with an electric mixer until fluffy. Slowly add sugar, eggs, corn syrup, and mashed bananas. Beat until smooth. Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture. Pour into crockpot, cover and cook in high for 1 1/4 to 1/2 hours or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool, then invert bread onto serving platter.

*My bread actually took about 2 hours to cook/bake, just so you know :) *

Re: crock pot recipes

Three Packet Roast
Bottom Round Roast (can also use top round)
1 pkg dry italian dressing mix
1 pkg dry brown gravy mix
1 pkg dry ranch dressing mix

Put the roast in the bottom of the crockpot. Pour in one cup of water. Mix all of the mixes together. Pour the mixture on top of the roast and cook for 7-9 hours on low.

When the roast was done we added some cornstarch and water and made a nice gravy with the leftover water.

You could also add veges and potatoes to the crockpot for a complete meal.

Taco Soup
1-2 lb. Ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans, with liquid
1 (16 oz.) can white beans, with liquid
1 (16 oz.) can pinto beans, with liquid
1 (16 oz.) can corn, with liquid
1 (16oz.) can of hominey beans
2 can Ro-tel tomatoes with chilies and liquid (1 can is less spicy)
1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes, with liquid
2 pkg. taco seasoning mix
1 pkg. Ranch dressing

Saute ground beef & onion; drain. Add remaining ingredients, bring to boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes or put in your crock pot on low for 3-4 hours. Top with sour cream, tortilla chips and grated cheese.
If using chopped chicken or roast beef, sauté onions in a little oil then add meat or if meat is already cooked , just saute the onion.

Re: crock pot recipes

I do a stroganoff that's almost identical to Dez's and it's delicious! I actually suck at using the crock pot for the most part, but that and chili are 2 staples for me...

Crock Pot Chili

1.5lb ground beef (or whatever meat you want to use; I actually do about 1lb ground turkey and 0.5lb ground sausage)
2 cans dark red kidney beans, drained & rinsed
1 can corn, drained
1 can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can Rotel tomatoes, undrained
8oz tomato sauce
1 medium onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp chili powder
salt & pepper to taste

Brown meat in a skillet; drain. Then mix is ALL in the crock pot and cook for 8-10 hours on low or 4 hours on high. Top however you want (crackers, cheddar cheese, whatever)

Re: crock pot recipes

This is one of my all time favorites! Always a hit with the family too.

White Chicken Chili:

1.5 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts

1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)

2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

1 can (14 oz) chicken broth

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp oregano

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp red pepper sauce, such as Tabasco

2 cans (15 to 16 ounces each) great northern beans, rinsed and drained

1 can (15 ounces) white shoepeg corn, drained

3 TBS lime juice

2 TBS chopped fresh cilantro

Place the first eight ingredients (through red pepper sauce) in crockpot for 4-5 hours on low, or until chicken is done. Remove and shred chicken. Return chicken to crockpot. Add remaining ingredients to crockpot; cover and cook on high for 15 to 20 minutes, or until beans and corn are hot.

**Listed above is the original recipe, but I leave out the onions and corn (don't like em) and I add an additional 1-2 cans of beans that I have pureed in a food processor to 'thicken up' the chili. You can play around with the spices to get the flavor that you want. The lime juice, fresh cilantro, and tabasco sauce are what makes this recipe so good, so don't leave them out. :)

**I have been known to add a little extra liquid and leave this in the crockpot on low for a full workday (8-9 hours) and it does ok.
