what was the one moment?
Now that we have all had our babies what is the one thing during labor or delivery that you cant believe you said or did.

For me it was this one thing and I cant help but laugh when I think back at it, when I first arrived at the hospital and they checked me I was at a 7 to a 8 and I calmly sit up and told the Dr that we needed to get this show on the road. I was ready to meet little Ethan. That and I passed a lot of gas when I finally got to 10 that was really embarrassing.

When it was time to push, I freaked out and said I couldn't do it and kept saying no no no. The. I got whole of myself and delivered him.

spicymustard March 14th, 2013 08:20 PM

When I was pushing there was a ton of pressure around my butt hole and I asked my doctor what he was doing to it. He was like ummm...that's the head. Yeah. Pretty embarrassing.

Since I progressed so quickly, I was unable to get the epidural. When I was told I was a 10 and ready to push, I looked at my sister and very pitifully said "I don't want to give birth naturally!"

Re: what was the one moment?
I actually did poop while pushing, oh well nothing new for me i did it with all my kids :giggle: I just remember saying "sorry" for everything i hit a cup of water all over the floor (by accident) during a contraction, then i leaked blood on their bed and floor, I just felt like i was saying sorry all the time lol.

Re: what was the one moment?
Three stand out:

1- My water broke while I was puking and writhing in pain from a contraction. But the best I could do to tell anyone was exclaiming: "Something's coming out of me!" While my sister in a panic looked for a tube or monitor that had come loose, DH was thinking: Well, yes, honey, you're throwing up.

2-While attempting to remain still during a contraction as the epi needle was inserted, evidently I hummed a tune of my own making. I did not realize this until the nurse thanked me for the song afterwards.

3-I've just started pushing, and DH takes out the camera and appears to be pointing it at me. Although mostly delirious from pain and exhaustion I shout a very well articulated: WHAT THE F... ARE YOU DOING?! The nurse was very amused. Not sure about the doc.

Re: what was the one moment?
I did not realize I would be a yeller. Not blood curdling screams but I was very vocal while pushing. I remember telling the nurse I was going to scare the other moms waiting to give birth. She assured me I was fine.

I also asked ( I really truely was joking) if it was too late for a repeat csection while I was crowning (no pain meds).

I do feel a little bad for dropping the f bomb on the iv girl. In my defense though she was digging in my hand with a needle during very strong contractions fir a good 10 minutes. She managed to bliw my vein out. I also asked her if I could have an epidurql for the iv insertion. I was not joking about that.

Re: what was the one moment?
After her head was born it was still super painful so I told my Mom to, "Get it out! Get it out!". Lol, I still laugh about this. A second after that a bunch of amniotic fluid gushed out and it hurt much less. She had so much water!

Re: what was the one moment?
Our baby came really fast delivered by the nurses and they were trying to get me not to push. One of the nurses was holding my hand and trying to get me to breath and not push. I had her hand and birthed the baby anyway and it was several minutes later after the baby was born that I realized I still had her hand in a death grip. I said "I guess I can let you go now" :)

I also got up to pee after my water was broken and didn't stick a towel or anything between my legs and I leaked a hefty trail of fluid from my bed to the bathroom. Duh. My hubby was coming behind me with a towel cleaning up my mess.

Re: what was the one moment?
i had told my OB after she got there and told me that I could push when I felt the urge that I didn't think I could. Not that I was being irrational or panicky but for almost 45 minutes (from the time my water broke just after 1230am with contractions that were back to back to about 1:15 when my OB got to the hospital- we had only got there at 12:57 so it wasn't a long wait once we got there) I had been resisting the urge to push by blowing/panting through my contractions. In the end I only ended up pushing through 3 contractions and she was out but trying to get those muscle to work after resisting them was odd at first! LOL

oh and about 4 hours before my water broke I had been complaining to hubby "I wish my water would just break already so I knew we had to go in!" because i didn't want to be THAT pregnant lady that was sent home twice from the hospital in 1 day. After I had been up and showered after Emalie was born I was walking across the room and looked at JJ with Emalie and said "My water broke..." and we just laughed!

I am loving this thread. Lol

I was also a yeller for that last 20 minutes. That was an intense 20 minutes. Thinking back that's sort of embarrassing.

Oh I was screaming! I was not prepared to give birth naturally or that quickly. I had no idea how to control the pain and everyone kept telling me to "breathe for the baby." That just pissed me off and I'd yell "I am breathing!" I'm sure every person in labor that night heard me.

Re: what was the one moment?
While I was pushing and as she was crowning, I had paused and said "Now I know why they call it the ring of fire." I dont remember feeling that with DS!
