Stress and contractions
I've looked online for an answer to this, but I haven't found any verified by a medical source, so I was hoping someone might know. Can stress cause contractions? "Real" or BH - either one.

I ask because I don't know if I should call my doctor about the contractions I had this weekend, or just wait until I see her next week.

Re: Stress and contractions
I'm not 100% sure but I believe they can.

I know last night my daughter accidentally over flowed the bathroom sink which totally flooded her bathroom & it was a huge mess, I stayed totally calm but was definitely stressed & once it was all cleaned up I had really bad pains down low & had to lay down & rest.

Re: Stress and contractions
I was told yes that they can cause either. "Real" contractions increase in intensity, BHs can sometimes go away if you change positions or drink some water. If I have more than 6 of any type of contractions in an hour I was told to call (this was before I was having them daily and what is routinely said at my OBs office).

Re: Stress and contractions
Yes, stress can cause both. If you have more than 6 in an hour it's a good idea to call your provider.

Re: Stress and contractions
At this point since they are gone, they were BH. It is worth mentioning at the the appt. though.

Re: Stress and contractions
I get an increase in BH if I'm feeling uptight at all. I'd definitely say stress would be one of the main triggers.
