I'm with Constance on this one. Can you be too cautious? Nope. BUt you can also drive yourself nuts trying to keep up with everyone's idea of what safety is.
I stick with the basics: Elevate baby's head by elevating the mattres, not the baby's head (a pillow UNDER the mattress works really well with congested babies). I don't put blankies or stuffed animals, bumpers near the baby. I use rolled up blankies to keep baby on her side if that's what she likes, simply because there were no positioners when I was growing up...blankies worked then, they will work now.
NEVER leave a baby unattended in the bath. My kids are generally three or four before I even think about stepping away for a moment. Nowadays so many infant tubs and toys have sensors on them to let you know if the water is too hot...but use your own hand as a gauge.
Please don't drive yourself insane...as Constance said, a few weeks in, and you'll be an expert on your baby
