I actually had one when I was 24. I was supposed to start getting them as soon as I hit 20 but couldnt get a doctor to okay it. I have a strong family history of breast cancer and they say take the youngest person to be diagnosed in your family, subtract 5 years from their age at diagnonis and start then. One of my Aunts was diagnosed at 25 and died at 27. The thing is in younger women, even into your 30s the breast tissue is too dense for a mammogram to see anything and if you get one every year starting so young the radiation will cause problems, For me I had to get a mammogram so my insurance would cover an ultrasound of them too.

I believe your about my age right? like 25, 26? If you have no family history I would just keep doing breast exams in the shower and having your doc do them yearly. If you feel anything strange, demand one.

Oh I should mention I had genetic testing done for the BC gene because my cousin was shown to have it. I do not though. Which is a huge relief but since i have close family with BC at a young age on both sides of my family I still need to get mammograms. They are so not fun
