This type of breathing is called Holographic Breathing and has mainly been helpful for health and well being. But over the last years many mothers have also started using this breathing through childbirth, and found it significantly reduces the pain of labour.
In Holographic Breathing there is a gentle movement of the jaw with the breath, and on speaking with midwives they have mentioned that in birth a loose jaw also helps the pelvis become loose.
This has also been the experience of mothers using this breathing, as the jaw is breathing the pelvis feels more fluid and rather than tightening against the pain the mothers can breath with the experience.
This breathing is now being used in some hospitals and birth centres as well as some independent midwives promoting it. You can learn this type of breathing Free of charge by googling Holographic Breathing
