Is there maybe an online class you can watch for one of the methods you'd like to use? Even if its not interactive, the visuals could help aid in understanding the books you read.

I did almost did med free, but had pitocin and just couldn't quite do it. I did avoid an epidural though. This is just my 2 cents, but what helped me the absolute most was a good labor partner (DH) who supported and encouraged me. Another thing that helped a lot was knowing the non-medicated pain management techniques like using counter pressure on your lower back for contractions, using alternative methods to push (ie- not laying on my back), moving during labor, laboring in a tub or shower, birthing ball (or just an exercise ball) etc.

Good luck!
