Let's see....Noah weighed 5 lbs 6 oz and dropped down to 4 lbs 12 oz. he wasn't taking his feeds that great either and was spitting up quite a bit of his food. we thought he was going to wither away to nothing. the doctor put him on a high calorie formula called Neosure to help him gain the weight back. then one night, he took his entire feed by bottle for the nurse..but wouldn't do it all the time and he had to to it consistently to go home. he left the NICU at 5lbs 5 oz and went to his first doctor appt. last Monday and weighed in at 5 lbs 14.5 oz! He is ready to take normal formula!
Don't get discouraged. I am sure they are telling you that when he is ready he will catch on to taking the bottle. They are right. It took Noah quite some time, but once he caught on he was drinking like a champ!
Have the doctors tried a lactose free formula? or do they think it is reflux?
Your little guy will start putting on weight...don't worry! I know exactly how you are feeling and he will be home in no time!
