My DH and I value a mom's influence and impact on children, and I value my role as a wife and homemaker. I can't imagine working and leaving our kiddos with someone else. When our last one is grown and gone and done homeschooling, I'll hopefully be working more on the farming. I don't ever see myself working on an "off the homestead" job. Just not for us.
As for winters getting long, they sure do. We keep pretty busy in the barns and sheds so that helps. I just try and remember a season for everything. *try*.
