Jim's daycare will do a whole day around a letter--so, they learn about the letter and the sound it makes, then they do an art project where they draw items that start with that letter, then they play a game involving that letter, etc. It's basically like Sesame Street's letter of the day, except, in person instead of a TV show, and lasting all day instead of an hour. I have no idea if that's high-quality preschool instruction or not, but I love our daycare--it's right next door and ridiculously cheap, and Jim comes home happy and seems well-adjusted, which is a bigger thing for me than him learning to read as a preschooler. I guess you could say I'm the complete opposite of a Tiger Mom.
