I don't mind telling a stranger about carseat safety... but i have sooo much trouble talking to family! My SIL came to DH's b-day party friday, and her 6 month old was not properly restrained AT ALL.
I commented on what a big boy he was and she responded "Yeah he technically shouldn't even be in that seat." There was an inch of seat above his head, and i'm sure he's not 22lbs yet, so i'm not worried about that... But his chest clip was in his crotch, his straps were twisted, incredibly loose, and NOT EVEN ON HIS SHOULDERS!!! HE would have flown out of that seat if he was in an accident. I just don't get it! This is the same woman who told me not to buy anything other than a Britax because it "wasn't safe". She really is a sensible person and a great mom, so i don't see how she is so lax about it. I really wanted to say somehting... but i just couldn't find the words.
I mentioned it to DH and he thought it was crazy too, but he's not going to say anything. Do any of you every have trouble approaching friends or family? How do you go about it? I've talked with her before about rearfacing and she jumped down my throat.
thank you claire1979!
