You do not want the shot. I was on the shot for 10 years and it completely drained the calcium from my bones. It ruined a couple of my molars and I have the bone density of a 60 year old woman. Thankfully, while it's not completely irreversible, calcium supplements have improved it a couple points on the scale. Please do your research first before you decide.
It can take over a year for your cycle to readjust itself for you to be able to get pregnant again too. It took my body about 8 months for my periods to come back.
