I had two different appointments for it...The first one they took out the pulp and gave me a temporary filling. They then had me take antibiotics for two weeks to get rid of the infection before going back to take out the temporary filling and put in a permanent one.

They offered me painkillers after my first appointment, but I declined. I honestly had no pain afterwards. Both times my jaw was a bit sore where the freezing went in, but it was such a RELIEF not to have the tooth pain that it didn't bother me. The tiny bit of soreness was nothing compared to the pain I had been in.

The cost IS outrageous. I'm lucky to have insurance that covers most of it.
this.

I've had two, done on the SAME tooth (temp filling fell out, I coudln't afford to get it redone at the time).. both times, pain free. Only pain was from them freezing me. What mind does, is once he has the roots visible, he dribbles in some freezing and waits a few moments.. sooo much better! he even does that on basic fillings. I'm extremely sensitive in my mouth, so he was a godsend for me!

I hope you feel better soon!
