Ugh, ok, so it's a rant, and likely, a quite stupid rant, it's still annoying, lol.
If you look here
Office Depot Recalls Desk Chairs Due to Fall Hazard you will see that Office Depot has a recall out on a chair they sold between 2002 and 2008. We have these chairs, unfortunately. In fact a lot of our supplies and even the kids' school supplies when they were in school, came from this store(they occasionally have good deals and the staff at the one we used to go, was really nice, so it was worth it).
So what do I do when I get this recall notice(from a friend mind you, who knows we have these chairs)? I contact them online, just as it says. Because I couldn't get through on the phone. I specifically stated exactly what I was contacting them about, left all of my information, told them how many chairs we have(we have multiple, they're actually nice chairs, or were anyway, lol), you know, everything you SHOULD give. I was polite, not rude(why would I be anyway? lol). My note was very thorough.
This is the response I got...(I blanked out her name, since that's not public knowledge, everything else is a direct copy/paste)

What the frick?
A-that doesn't address the recall
B-why on earth would most people still have the receipts for something they purchased at LEAST four years ago(ours were bought before that, about 6-7 years ago actually)?
C-the local stores aren't the ones issuing the refunds(it's actually a store credit), but rather the actual business doing it, local stores CAN'T issue them even if they wanted to, o calling my local store won't do me a lick of good(I know, because I tried, just in case they could help, before sending in my info to the company)
Oy...stupid people make my head hurt sometimes, lol. I don't think she actually read my comments at all, lol.
I have very little tolerance for poor customer service. I worked in customer service for years, still do in fact. I never once issued, or allowed those working for me to issue, a scripted reply. Even when I was supposed to. I simply refused. It's so...commercial, and so disrespectful, to me. I strongly believe that, even if a customer were treating me like crap(not that I ever would to a customer service rep, personally), I still owe it to THEM to treat them as if their problem matters. I loathe scripted responses, for that reason alone. I'd rather answer things personally 500 times a day and take forever doing it, than offer 500 scripted responses in a shorter time frame. Even though I loathe them, at least if they are going to give me a scripted reply it should actually apply to the problem at hand, lol. Look at the number of chairs in this recall. My guess is I won't be the only one they are hearing from, and someone out there is going to give them a really nasty reply to that.
Sigh....
(I know, totally off topic, just happens to be irritating me, lol)
