My DH was the same on my first mother's day and I even made sure to tell him how hurt my sister was when my BIL didn't even wish her a Happy Mother's Day on her first Mother's Day but he still didn't get it and didn't even say Happy Mother's Day. I let him know how hurt I was about it and he has done much better since then.
