a "for the children" debate - School speed zones...

I think slower is better when it comes to school zones. That person sounds like a jerk honestly. Would it really make you feel any better if you hit a small child who stepped right in front of your car? Would that be your fault? No, not really. But it's a kid...how could you not feel awful? And that's the only reason to drop the speed limit. There is generally more traffic with people pulling in and out to drop their kids off, and buses coming and going. It just makes sense to slow everyone down a bit.
And yes...to answer their question, a child's safety IS more important than someone getting to work two minutes earlier. I think the same could be said about all pedestrians.
