I don't qualify for leave either. I'll be at my job for a year in a few weeks, but I'm officially a part time employee (full time during tax season but half days the other 7 months of the year). My company is also only 10 people so it doesn't have to participate in FMLA even if I was full time. I will just have to ask for leave or I will quit. If you have been at your job for a year, working a certain number of hours, and for a large enough company, you should be fine. Also some states have different laws that allow for leave that is different than the federal FMLA
