Hi there,
My 2 year old is very intelligent. With great joy we performed happy dances after every wee in the potty and we left him nude for the first 2-3 days. As it got colder day 4 we put trousers on. He now started saying: no, no, no everytime we told him to go to the toilet.
In the first few days my husband used to ask him if he had to go and because he was busy playing he replied 'no'. Instead of me telling him, ok, it's potty time now.
I believe he now sees it as an unwanted interruption to what he is doing and perhaps the reward has worn off. He now deliberately goes behind the couch or sits in a box to do his business into his pants and onto the carpet.
Has anyone else experienced this? We don't punish but we tell him it's not ok. So far we've never had any problems with him and he is a very happy boy, so this is new and we're not quite sure how to handle it.
I'm tempted to put him back in nappies, which I know he is after. He was ready in the first 2-3 days but now just rebells... Any thoughts?
