As far as the time you'll be there goes, that depends on how well the surgery goes. I've had 3 sections and I've been home in as little as 36 hours when all went right and for as long as 7 days when all went wrong.

What to do, bring some books or word puzzles, a comfortable pillow either for yourself or to help with nursing if you plan to do that. Then just relax, heal and enjoy baby cuddles.

What to pack, a comfortable bra, possibly a comfortable night gown, loose pants that don't rub on the incision line and a comfortable shirt to go home in. While there I ended up just wearing the gowns they gave me. For the 36 hours I tried to change into a night gown but it was a bit of a pain to lift to nurse and the nurses kept wanting to check the incision and for the times I was there longer I wasn't allowed to change because they had to keep checking things and I was in too much pain to care.
