If you're just starting jogging, I would suggest Couch-to-5K - it's exactly what it sounds like, and it gives you the intervals to get you moving. I have had several friends use it really successfully, and am considering doing it myself.

In terms of weight loss, you will always get more bang for your buck by changing what you eat. Exercise burns surprisingly few calories. However, it will help with toning muscles, and improving your metabolism - both of which are excellent. Good luck!!
