Measuring the length or placement of the cord isn't usually something standard to look for. Since a lot of women only have a 20 week u/s, it's not going to tell you much of anything about the cord other than 2 vessel vs 3 vessel and blood flow... Although with an external version you would think they'd look for potential problems before hand...
