Here are some short meditation methods for the meditation group and anyone else who may be interested.

Please add to this if you have any other short meditation ideas! These are easy ways you can meditate for 5 minutes to half an hour depending on what time you get on a daily basis.

Meditation is about finding a quiet space, where you can leave behind the cares and worries of everyday life, giving you time to expand your soul and receive guidance from above and from your inner/higher self and intuition.

Setting an atmosphere can help: lighting incense, or having background spiritual or instrumental music, or holding a crystal you feel drawn to. However this is not necessary.

Visualise sending roots deep down into the earth from the soles of your feet before you meditate to ensure you are grounded and earthed.

1. BREATH MEDITATION

Close your eyes for this meditation and focus on counting your breaths: 1, 2, 3, 4; then back to the beginning: 1, 2, 3, 4 and keep going. If you lose count, don't be angry with yourself, just let it go and start again at 1. The focus on counting shuts off your "monkey mind" from everyday concerns. You may even reach a point where you just zone out without continuing to count. You may wish to visualise breathing in white light energy on the inbreath, and/or breathing out dark negative energy on the outbreath.

2. CANDLE MEDITATION

Light a candle and watch the candle for a few minutes. Fully focus on the look of the flame flickering, waving and moving; the colours you see within the flame; or any visions you see within the flame. When you feel your focus is fully on the candle flame, close your eyes. You should still be able to "see" the flame imprinted in your third eye; if you can't, visualise it, recalling as many details as you can. Again, the focus on the flame shuts off your "monkey mind" from everyday concerns. You may again reach a point where you just zone out without continuing to visualise the flame.

3. MUSIC MEDITATION

Sitting or lying quietly where you won't be disturbed and listening to music with closed eyes is a form of meditation. Any spiritual or instrumental music is effective - it's best to source unfamiliar music whenever you can as this works better than pieces you know well. Try to focus ALL your senses on the music. Not just listening but feeling it. Visualise what the music looks like to you, or be mindful if you see colours or images in your mind's eye.

4. MANTRA MEDITATION

Saying a mantra aloud or in your head can also shut off your "monkey mind" and help you find that quiet place. Again, you may zone out without repeating the mantra in time.
The simplest and perhaps most well known mantra of all is OM MANI PAD ME HUM: a healing mantra which covers all of creation; nature, man, animal, mineral and spirits.
You may alternatively use a decree, such as a transformative violet flame decree, the simplest being: I AM A BEING OF VIOLET FIRE! I AM THE PURITY GOD DESIRES!

Make sure you leave a minute or two to ground at the end of any meditation.
  • Slowly sip a glass of water (or suck a piece of chocolate )
  • Rub your feet and ankles
  • Hold a grounding crystal such as hematite, smoky quartz or boji stones
