I would think that overstimulation would be more of a worry for a newborn or a preemie. Also, if a baby gets overstimulated, wouldn't they get fussy? I think every mom just needs to watch for signs of it in their own babies, because like Erin said, all babies are different. Kody seems to like noise, motion, and color to fall asleep. He often will fall asleep to watching TV when he's particularly fussy. When he's having a good day, he will fall asleep facing my chest or nursing. But when nothing will calm him down, distractions are a great way to get him to conk out.
I use a wrap with Kody that makes a broad seat for him, so that he's not just hanging by his crotch (which I know can be bad).
Sometimes I feel like there are so many no-no's out there that parents can get to where they feel their hands are tied when it comes to doing what seems best for their children. It can be frustrating sometimes. As for me, I tend to adapt the rules to suit my kids as seems best for me.
