I have to be completely honest - I took one birth class at the hospital and read a lot of stuff online. That was it. No books, no tapes, no videos, just resources listed here like websites and a lot of birth stories (of ALL kinds). I feel that I went in to labor with reasonable expectations of what it would be like (those being that anything could happen and it would be hard). As it turns out it was not bad at all. I made it through with the standard hospital taught breathing, birthing ball, and positioning.
My top advice, which I'm sure you will hear everywhere, is do not let them keep you in bed. If you plan on birthing at a hospital, insist they do the 20 minute strip while you are standing. They
do this, I made them do it during my labor because being in bed hurt too much and slowed my labor down. Good luck! You can do this!
Thanks so much Claire for my awesome siggy
