For me it's not about it being uncommon. Sometime when I say uncommon names several times, they grow on me - like Paisley did years ago. But Daylily just isn't nice sounding to me. Maybe a Dalily (du lily or da lily) or something but it seems so harsh with Day Lily. It's the long a that ruins it for me and makes it sound more like a thing than a name.
