She needs to become used to it first. Start by using it for nap time and work your way up to bed time. Like a previous poster said, singing a song or talking to her would help make her comfortable.

If you have a little music or white noise machine those can be a big help. We have one for our daughter that only stays on for 5-15 minutes, I turn it on when I leave the room and it helps her calm down at bed time.
