There are a few on this board who are.....ahem.....older like me
and it is you people who will know what I am talking about here.
I remember in 1980 and 1981 when Reagan was president and we were all so worried of a nuclear bomb hitting us from the Soviet Union. My town in Iowa was particularly worrisome because we were the homebase for John Deere, and it was said the Soviets thought we easily could convert from manufacturing tractors to manufacturing nuclear bombs instead...making us a potential target. We would do "nuclear bomb test drills" in school where we would "duck and cover" under our school desks. (like that would help!) We did these drills monthly, just as regularly as we did tornado and fire drills.
