Do you keep the lights dim, avoid talking to him and avoid eye contact (they find eye contact stimulating so it'll wake them up more if you make eye contact), avoid diaper changes if possible.
There have been times where Sierra hasnt wanted to go back to sleep so I would put her in her swing and lay on the couch to get a few Zzzz's. I'm sure you dont want to ignore him but I'm sure your not the best mommy, person, wife in the world when you've only have a few hours sleep.
Are you drinking any caffeine, chocolate or sugar as a snack before bed that might be going into your milk and keeping him awake?
