If your hospital is close, and you have no worries about "making it in time" then I would certainly labor at home as long as possible. A couple of my friends that turned me on to natural childbirth in the first place are a single mother, and her 3 daughters who are all my age. When the girls have their babies, they stay with their mother. She cares for them until they feel that urge to push. At that point, she drags em to the car and rushes them to the hospital. I think this is really the best way to go about it, myself lol. If you are not at the hospital in time for the epi, it wont be pushed on you. If you REALLY wait long enough, you dont even get the antibiotics and IV because if youre pushing then they just dont have time! I cant wait around like that myself, if I want to make it to my birth center, because I have to drive for a little over an hour to get there.
