Yes, they should and have an obligation to discuss ALL options with patient.

I think that the patient has the right to make an informed decision regardless of their personal, religious, or ethical beliefs. A doctor has to provide the information for the patient to make such an opinion. In these cases, I doubt that you would find too many doctors that would push one option of the other due to the sensitivity of the issue. My dh is a doc and is constantly asked "what would you do" but he always chooses not to answer that question and refers back to medical literature or case studies.
