Weekly Themes for 52 Weeks of Cooking Challenge

Ok, ladies. Here are your themes. I'll be adding as time goes. Remember, they're being posted early for budgeting and shopping purposes. NOT so that you can get a head start on the dishes. Each Monday I will start the thread for you to post in about that theme. Please share what you made and a picture of your dish.

Fun! I'm excited to do eggs, there was a fun recipe I found the other day I've been wanting to try, something I would normally not even attempt. :)

I'm with Brittanie, I do Chinese a lot, so branching out will be a challenge... but one I'm looking forward to. :)

:lol: Nothing extravagant. Ideally, egg would be the focus of the dish, but if you really hate them...

Oh I am excited to do eggs! Our hens just started laying and we are getting 16 or so eggs a week! Which is A LOT for us as DH is allergic to eggs.

  • January 2 – 8 – Eggs
  • January 9 – 15 – Chinese
  • January 16 – 22 - Soups
  • January 23 – 29 – Pan Frying
  • January 30 – February 5 – Beer/Wine/Liquor (I will allow white wine vinegar, or red wine vinegar as well.)

:overreact: I am a Mormon and my house is dry, so I am not sure how to handle Beer/Wine/Liqour as the focus of the dish. Oddly enough I had a slew of ideas come to mind but I am not surehow to do a work around yet...

Nicole, I thought that could be an issue for some. Are the vinegars also disallowed? They are undrinkable due to the salt content.

Yup it would be a good time to try out that pickled peaches recipe... I'll look into the alcohol.

vinegars are fine, there's not really as much alcohol in them. The bacteria that sours it changes the alcohol. I use vinegars all the time You can't get drunk off red wine vinegar. (I've made enough vinaigrette used liberally that if you could, I would have.)

{I'm a Mormon too, never cook with wine/beer. Which means my Irish stew isn't really irish stew, but it's still pretty yummy}
