What do you do for homebirth activism?

I'm working on getting a group of women together to change some of the regulations in my state, and let me tell you, I NEVER knew how involved it is! The women who have championed midwifery licensure and homebirth bills into laws are my new heros!
I'm ashamed to admit it, but as a client, and even as an apprentice, I was not political at all. I always thought that I'd finish my training, start my practice and "just" be a midwife. Now I'm finding that I need to be a lobbyist, a
person, a networking coordinator, and an event planner. I'm so far out of my comfort zone!!
So, this leads me to my question: what do you do to champion homebirth in your area? Have you asked your midwife if there's anything you can do to help further midwifery in your state? A lot of times sending a birth announcement or handwritten note to your legislator is all it takes to get them thinking about "those crazy homebirth people."
If you have done anything, I want to know what it is, because I'm stocking my arsenal with ideas right now!!
