Its ok. I don't mind.
At my first prenatal appt at 12.5 weeks along, my doc saw right away that I had a problem -- my tummy looked like I was full term or close to it. Come to find out I had a huge cyst in my abdomen (so the whole time for the 2 yrs prior I thought I was just carrying my fat in my tummy was really this cyst growing). He sent me to an OB Oncologist specialist at a major hospital.
At 17 weeks I had the cyst removed. It was an ovarian cyst and weighed almost 10 pounds. There was nothing left of my left ovary, so I no longer have that. I was cut straight down the middle of my abdomen from just below my chest to my hair line - its about 12 inches in length.
I had 0% survival for the baby if the cyst was not removed, and possible chance of dying myself if it burst. And 5% chance of preterm labor with the surgery. So surgery it was. I just have to be monitored closely for complications of the incision area as I grow with the baby and anything else that may come up. And my doc wants to closely watch her growth and for any side effects from the surgery/meds. I go every 2 weeks to see him and get an ultrasound at each appointment.
If you have a strong stomach and want to see there are pics in the Oct DDC in my pregnancy journal.
