I would separate them on the counter, for sure. Just put all your food items up first, then put the divider and put the rest of it. Stretch your foodstamps by loading up on coupons and BOGO's too! They have to give you all the same courtesies (including the use of coupons and all the sales) that 'regular' customers get. I use the 'regular' loosely--don't take offense. You can turn a hundred fifty dollars of food stamps into three hundred easy if you shop smart.
