Hi everyone, I'm new here. Not a mother myself yet I'm seeking advice and so far my resources have turned up little. I was wondering if anyone had a good website or resources for the legal aspect of adoption and custody issues. Not too sure if I'm posting in the right place. So, if it needs to be moved, please feel free. My roommate's boyfriend has a child from a previous relationship and both would like to add her as a parent and have full custody as a family. Only issue is her boyfriend's ex-wife is the biological mother of child in question. She (ex-wife) also has a child from a previous relationship and the state considers them to be siblings (which they are) and won't let full custody be granted to boyfriend.

The child (age 4) had made it known through behaviors which family setting they prefer. It breaks my heart and those of all involved to see this situation. Does anyone have any insight or any helpful links/resources on adoption in this situation? We're not too sure what we're looking for, but just resources for now.

Thanks in advance. I hope it's OK that I post here even though I'm not a mother.
