this will be a first grandchild for both my parents and my husband's. My husband is an only child and my only sibling is in his late 30's, still unattached, so I think my parents have sort of resigned they're not going to be grandparents. I've always been sort of a free spirit about travel and career minded and made it clear the first few years into my marriage that I wasn't interested in having kids. With husband and I being together almost 8 years, I think the parents have figured if it was going to happen, it would have happened.
I think everyone's jaw will hit the floor to hear they're going to be grandparents and the December holidays are going to be absurdly abundant. I hope there's some stuff for me!!!
As for husband and I, we're hoping to get a lot of gear from outlet shops and used off craigslist. However, we are suckers and will probably cave on a bunch of new silly and cute things. My dog will attest that if some critter is too small and helpless to run away, I will dress it up in funny outfits. I have no doubt there will be an absurd parade of little shoes and hats.
