So today was "doctor day" where all the women due within 6wks come in to meet the back up doc. It's first come, first serve. I got there early and chatted with the midwives and had my platelets rechecked. I declined the Group B Strep test (for various reasons) and have managed to make it to 36 1/2wks without an internal (this is a definite first for me-with the others they started anywhere from 28-32wks bc of my irritable uterus) I've realized those exams do nothing but make be obsess about numbers and "what ifs". I'll probably request one at some point just so I know where I'm starting from (my last labor was only 4hrs-I started out 4cm) I've gained 1lb in the last 3wks which puts me at 22lbs.

We sat and munched on carrots sticks, celery, hummus and animal crackers and I told them I was concerned about having horrendous after pains again. They suggested a shot of Methergine followed by some Sheperd's Purse and Arnica (which I'll have to go out and buy this week)-it's nice to have a plan as last time the Motrin just wasn't cutting it. I also told them that I wanted to "catch" my baby-which they were totally fine with.

THen it was doc time, he talked about my history of PPD and asked if I wanted to start meds now as a preventative measure. I declined but if my SAD kicks in (like it often does at this time of year) I'll rethink it. He also suggested I get some "Natural" light bulbs by GE in my house, I'll def look into that. He listened to the heartbeat (146) and had to wait for my uterus to relax before he measured my fundus (ouch!) 35.5cm, (been having B-H contractions every 4-5min for past 4 hrs-ugh) then wished me luck with my birth.

Nothing too exciting. I go back next THursday, I'll be almost 38wks!
