I've been discharged at 12 hours, 24 hours, and what was meant to be 24 but ended up more like 30 because my OB had an emergency C-section and couldn't come check me out as planned.
We've always so far been allowed to take the baby to the pediatrician for the blood tests.
I have pre-clearance from one CNM for a 12 hour discharge this time if the birth is uncomplicated, but will need to get that through the staff pediatrician according to how well the baby is doing.
