First off, I think it sounds amazing that they've basically doubled their birth weight in just 4 months.
I don't know anything about preemies, but I believe a full term baby isn't expected to double their birth weight until 6 months.
But I hear you concern and understand it, as I'm sure everyone here does. Yes, there is a lot of testing that can be done to see why a baby is FTT. I think you need to ask your ped for a referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist (GI doc). They are specialists in FTT and would be able to look at all the facts and then decide what, if any, testing needs to be done. There are all sorts of tests I've heard about for FTT, but it depends on what the symptoms are as to which they would do. Why do you feel your DD doesn't eat as much? Does she get tired and fall asleep after only a little bit of food? Does she arch her back and get mad after eating just a bit? Does she just get bored and doesn't want to eat anymore? Does she not have a strong suck so it takes her a long time to eat just a little? Does she not latch on (to nipple or bottle) well?
